Sometimes I go into hiding.

When I have a major project or a quick deadline.

or both.

I disappear and then reappear when I have magically done it :)

I am so glad.

Here I am.

more later.

But for now.

WHATTTSSS UPPPPPPPPPPP PEOPLE?!!!!

I'm gonna go celebrate. then sleep.

Then post about the project that means a lot.
and connects smart people.
to good ideas.

I hope you find something like that.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY AND WINNER OF THE GIVEAWAY. wooooot.

___________________________

OK. since I started this blog I have been amazed at the people who read it and shyly tell me that
they do.

Feel free, also, to use a megaphone.

and honestly, I have nothing against Bring-A-Friend Sunday.
You know. Bring a friend here on Sunday. Show them something cool. Ignore anything dumb.
any day of the week is fine.

and follow me ~ become a small square head on the right hand side. Because that means you can comment whenever you see an update.

and sometimes when you comment you can win art.

THANK YOU TO THE PEOPLE WHO COMMENTED ON THE PRE-MOTHERS DAY POST!!!
You were entered to win the print! and someone did.

I asked you to write about your mom. or a mom you know. or an important motherly person in your life. and I loved the comments. so, thank you.

How I pick the winner:

Old School. I put numbers in a cup.
Each comment has a number and then I have someone pick the winning comment number out.

(and my cup just happens to rock.)

My sister drew this winner:

The Third Comment won!!!

WINNER IS:

Blogger Amanda K. said...
i am the middle child and i wore my status like a badge - i insisted that i was overlooked and under-loved. and do you know what my mom did in response? she continued loving me oh-so much.

now that i have a child i appreciate my mom so much more. now that i've peered over a crib at 3 am, worried over fevers and wrestled onesies over chubby thighs i'm just a little closer to really appreciating my mom. not that i could ever fully thank her; but isn't that the thing that makes moms great? they don't do it for the thanks.

I would like to thank everyone who commented, but thank you sounds boring compared to what I mean. What I mean is that I would rent the carousel in Mary Poppins and we could all get on the run away horses and go somewhere cool. I know in the comment section I used a party analogy to show my thanks. but, I use a lot of analogies. so. bam. Theres another.

xo.

Happy Mothers Day.

I hope you read that in the voice of an older woman wearing an apron and hair rollers.
because that is how my insides feel.

Late night hashtag party:

In honor of nights like these. Where normal is not really applicable,

I want to give out some thank yous.
please come up and receive your award.
but if everyone could hold their applause until the end that would be fantastic. thanks.

1. I will start with the inventor of Pandora. You keep me alive. You single handedly keep my heart beating. Did I go too far? Because I meant to.

2. Everything is always due at one time. So, I would like to thank my college professors who prepared me for this. They taught me to suck it up. and ignore the late night headache. They taught me that no matter how well you think you can manage... there will always be a "French test" out there. and Oh my gosh those were SERIOUSLY HARD.

3. Snacks. Thank you for giving me comfort. Although it comes from a completely unhealthy place, and food should be nourishment...not emotional comfort, you actually make things seem ok.

4. The guys downstairs. Normally I am pissed you are making noise all night. Tonight... it is like we are all hanging out together working on this project. Every now and then when you laugh though... I feel slightly left out. Tonight you should feel free to speak up.

4. I wish I had a back brace. WHY DONT they make those for people PRE- back injury? I continually find myself hunched over to an obscene degree. (I also know this is not a thank you. but it is actually a PRE- thank you to the person who, in the future, figures out how to help artists not destroy their spine. AND I know it is the second #4. but I typed that with a lot of purpose before I realized it was wrong. and I think it reflects the state I am in. so I am leaving it.)

5. That last little hour of major productivity. When working very late theres a point where you turn off any music & put in 1 silent hour of work. and it stops being even partly funny.

6. The reminder that late nights mean I am busy. and doing what I jumped into the deep end to do.

If you would like to stop following this blog because the 3am version of me is crazy. Please don't.

Because tomorrow morning is going to be rough already.

ew.

I still do. She is the best.

I can call her at 1 am. and she answers in a you-called-me-at-1am tone.

but she answers.

Once at 2 am she met me in a parking lot with a sewing machine needle. Because mine broke. I had a project due, stores were closed, and she had one at her house.

Once when I was in middle school she brought a shoe to the office in a brown paper bag. Because I accidentally wore 2 different shoes to school.

Once she carried a GIANT duck sculpture with me in a thunderstorm.

Happy Almost Mother's Day.

Love your mom. or Love someone else's.
or. Love someone who has been mother-like to you.

I grew up with a thousand aunts. They all smell good and give big hugs. and feed you fried chicken, chili, okra, and sweet tea. They are really good to me.

I am thankful for all of them.
